  Is Meal Prep Cheaper?

While meal prep can be expensive, it too can save you money. If you’re like me, I like to cook all my meals fresh, from scratch- for the most part. For instance, rather than buy the 90 second microwaveable pouches of rice, and the like, I prefer to cook mine from scratch, adding in any spices, veggies and/or proteins that I like. In such an instance, my food bill can tend to be a bit more on the expensive side. In contrast, thanks to our advancements we are making in the health industry, supermarkets now sell a vast variety of healthy pre-made foods for purchase. Doing so this way can save you a lot of time and money on your grocery bill.

A big part of meal prep consists of cooking food in advance, for what I recommend being about 3 days in advance. As a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach, I would not recommend cooking too many days in advance, as the food will go bad, sitting in the refrigerator all those days. Grocery stores now make it convenient for this by having family pack sizes for purchase. They have them priced a bit cheaper, being they are being purchased in bulk, which in turn can help you save money on your bill.
